Bodies of 140 Russian plane crash victims and over 100 body parts delivered to St. Petersburg

The bodies of 140 people killed in the October 31 crash of the Russian Airbus A321 passenger airplane in the Sinai peninsula and more than 100 body parts have been airlifted to Russia from Egypt, and the bodies of nine victims have already been identified, Alexei Smirnov, acting director of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry's National Crisis Management Center, has said.

"As of today, 140 bodies and more than 100 body parts of those killed have been delivered to St. Petersburg. Measures are being taken to identify the victims. Nine bodies have already been identified," he said in Moscow on Tuesday, speaking at a meeting of the government commission's working group addressing the A321 plane crash.

St. Petersburg's Vice Governor Igor Albin said earlier that the bodies of nine people had been identified over the past 24-hour period.
