Yatseniuk orders check of filling station chains to verify price cuts after global oil prices fall

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has ordered a check on how Ukrainian fuel traders reacted to the large decline in the price of oil on global markets.

"I ask the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry and the Economic Development and Trade Ministry to check the pegging of prices to global oil prices and the reduction of the cost of fuel at Ukrainian filling station jointly with the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine," Yatseniuk said while opening a cabinet meeting in Kyiv on Wednesday.

As reported, retail prices of petrol in Ukraine fell by 16-21 kopecks per liter on average over the weekend, which is 1% of the cost of fuel. Leading filling station chains cut prices of petrol by UAH 0.50 or 2.2%.

Global oil prices have fallen by over 30% since early July.
