Shyrokyne to be demined – Kyiv
Demining will be the first step taken in Shyrokyne near Mariupol after the pullout of the Ukrainian army's opponents, Ukrainian Presidential Administration spokesman Andriy Lysenko has said.
"It is not easy to drive into the razed Shyrokyne, because lots of land and semi-destroyed homes are mined. Sappers will have a lot to do, they are due to clear this populated locality from explosive devices," he said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Monday.
Lysenko noted that it was Ukraine that suggested demilitarization of Shyrokyne and "the militants left that populated locality as a result of a number of diplomatic steps and negotiations."
"An observation post manned by representatives of the Joint Control and Coordination center and OSCE SMM monitors will open in Shyrokyne soon," he said.
