MPs approve plan to enforce reforms

The Ukrainian parliament has passed a plan to enforce reforms in Ukraine, under which MPs are to pass over 180 new laws and over 300 draft laws.

A total of 256 lawmakers supported the plan.

Speaker Volodymyr Groysman who prepared the draft said that the plan is the first stage of systemic work.

He said seven groups consisting of 89 lawmakers took part in preparing the plan.

The plan contains several basic blocks: constitutional reform, rule of law, regional policy, decentralization, national security and defense, international liabilities and economic reform.

"According to the plan, we are to pass 182 new laws and over 300 draft laws on amendments to various laws," he said.

"It is very important not only to write the plan, but create the conditions for its implementation. Monitoring groups on the basis of coordinators of working groups who are chairs of committees will be created, and we will monitor the implementation of the document," he added.

The speaker said a report on the work of the parliament will be presented by the monitoring group once a month.

"This would allow [for] making the work of the parliament for responsible," he said.
