Military-medical doctrine requires changes to medical, budget laws – official

Amendments to Ukrainian laws regulating the functioning of the healthcare system and the issues of the formation of the budget should be made before the adoption of the military-medical doctrine, First Deputy Health Minister of Ukraine Oleksandra Pavlenko has said.

The press service of the Health Ministry reported that Pavlenko said that some notions and terms used in the doctrine contradict each other and that the term paramedic is not present in Ukrainian law.

"According to our opinion, before passing this important document for the country the amendments to medical and budget laws should be made," she said in the parliament

Pavlenko said that the issues of patient routing and their distribution between healthcare centers should be worked out thoroughly.

"The Ukrainian Health Ministry is ready jointly with the authors to work on the document, attracting best specialists and experts," she said.

After parliamentary discussion it was recommended that the authors of the doctrine should elaborate on it, amend Ukrainian law and take organizational measuresto ensure the unhampered adoption of the military-medical doctrine.
