Eleven NATO states, Israel offer help in treating wounded ATO soldiers – Defense Ministry

Eleven NATO member states and Israel have offered assistance in treating and rehabilitating soldiers wounded during the anti-terrorist operation (ATO), Deputy Defense Minister, Chief of Staff Petro Mekhed has said.

"The issues of sending Ukrainian soldiers wounded in the ATO to the Czech Republic, Hungary, Estonia, Slovakia, the UK, France, Lithuania and other countries are being processed," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.

Mekhed said 40 Ukrainian soldiers are currently being treated and rehabilitated abroad.

Since the beginning of the ATO, 108 Ukrainian soldiers have undergone treatment and rehabilitation in foreign countries.

He said the Ukrainian military is setting up psychological centers to treat ATO participants.

"In accordance with the decision of the Health Ministry, 29 hospitals for veterans of World War II were defined as centers to conduct psychological rehabilitation of serviceman who participated in the ATO. As of today, over 1,800 soldiers are undergoing psychological rehabilitation in such facilities," he said.

In addition, Mekhed said that two medical rehabilitation centers for ATO soldiers had already been created in Lviv and Irpin.
