Cabinet introduces IEEE 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard in Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers has amended the plan regarding the use of radio frequency resources in Ukraine, according to which IEEE 802.11ac Wi-Fi broadband access will be introduced as standard in Ukraine.

The government adopted relevant decree No. 295 on May 14.

This standard will be used exclusively in premises which use integrated omnidirectional antennae with a gain ratio of up to 9 dB.

The changes also apply to the IMT-2000 (UMTS) standard. In particular, the radio electronic means of Wireless Broadband Access radio technology in the 1,980-1,985 MHz band should not cause harmful interference to UMTS technology and requires protection. The filters of the standard base stations in the 1,980-2,000 MHz radio frequency band should ensure minimized intermodulation interference.

In addition, this resolution extends the validity of radio link communication technology in the 3,400-3,800 MHz, 5,670-5,920 MHz frequency bands until 2018.
