The German authorities are interested in the success of reforms in Ukraine, Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk has said.

"Recent talks confirmed that the German government is ready to help Ukraine, not only on global issues, but in financial stabilization, reforms, humanitarian aid and participation in concrete projects. The success of reforms in Ukraine for German Chancellor [Angela Merkel] is as important as the Minsk agreements," Melnyk said in an excusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

He said that German politicians trust the Ukrainian authorities and believe they are decisive in conducting real reforms.

"A couple of days ago Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk's visited [Germany]. Chancellor Merkel who is self restrained in statements, especially at public press conferences, after hard talks on the realization of reforms by the president, government and parliament of Ukraine, said that she greatly appreciates the efforts of all branches of the Ukrainian authorities," Melnyk said, adding that Russian propaganda aiming at splitting Ukraine from its partners is not working in Germany.

He said that the relations between the two countries are good and that the permanent attention paid by German politicians to Ukraine is evidence of this.

"Twice our President Petro Poroshenko visited Germany – in Munich and Berlin where he held negotiations with the chancellor. Prime Minister Yatseniuk visited Germany twice. The speaker was there and the foreign minister [visited] four times. The same trend [exists] for visits to Ukraine – Chancellor Merkel visited Ukraine, German President Joachim Gauk visited the country during the anniversary of Euromaidan, and Parliament Head Norbert Lammert visited Ukraine [in the] first [time] for the past 10 years," Melnyk added.
