Director of the Foreign Ministry political department Oleksiy Makeyev will represent Kyiv at the meeting on the settlement in Ukraine on the Normandy format, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis announced.

"The director of our department of politics and communications Oleksiy Makeyev already left for Berlin today," he said on 112.Ukraine TV channel on Sunday, January 4.

Meanwhile, Makeyev twitted that he is starting a captivating diplomatic mission in Germany and did not rule out the appearance of new problems in the course of the negotiating process.

Besides, on 112.Ukraine channel Makeyev announced that he had arrived in Berlin and the main talks would take place Monday morning.

"In fact tomorrow all sides to the talks on the Normandy format will present their visions of the way to promote the implementation of the Minsk accords by all the sides and how the leaders of the states of the Normandy format could promote the enforcement of the peace plan of the Ukrainian president and the restoration of peace in the land of Ukraine," he said.

Based on the results of the Monday meeting it will be possible to speak of a meeting of Foreign Ministers of Ukraine, France, Germany and Russia, he said. "The main thing is to exchange opinions [of the situation] and understand what common approaches [we have]," he said.

Earlier Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin announced that Director of the CIS Department II of the Russian Foreign Ministry will represent Russia at the meeting on Ukraine on the Normandy format at the level of political directors.
