Radical activities intensify in central Kyiv, says Interior Ministry

The Interior Ministry of Ukraine has said that radical activists have intensified preparations for attacks in central Kyiv.

"Scaffolding, home-made clubs, and Molotov cocktails containing hazardous chemicals - these are the 'peaceful' tools for self defense used by protesters against the police. The Interior Ministry has received information that young people started coming to the central square of Kyiv to resist the lawful demands made by the law enforcement bodies," the public relations department of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry said in a report.

The police reiterated that the majority of the radical activists are young people aged between 18 and 25 and the buildings of the Kyiv city administration, the Union House, and the Euromaidan tent city have been turned into "something like a laboratory where explosive mixtures and military ammunition are made."

Speaking about the right-wing radical activists, the police said, citing eyewitnesses, that they are "militant and aggressive" and "trained militants are ready to fight the police using any methods."

The Interior Ministry has again called on peaceful protesters to leave the riot scene in central Kyiv and not to give in to provocations.
