IT Week firstly starts in Sevastopol

For the first time, "IT Week" has started in Sevastopol.

During the opening ceremony for "IT Week", Head of Sevastopol City State Administration Volodymyr Yatsuba said that he promised to support businesses that develop IT in all possible ways.

"It's difficult for us to compete with such developed regions as Kyiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, especially Kharkiv, but I promise you support in every possible way," he said.

An expert of the EU project "Attraction of Direct Foreign Investments to Sevastopol" Dmytro Sokolov, in turn, said that Sevastopol and Crimea have every chance of becoming the IT center of Ukraine.

"The main component of IT sector is staff, its competitive ability. Sevastopol in this field has qualified staff with the technical skills, several universities, which annually graduate young specialists in the IT sector, the central of which is Sevastopol National Technical University, and reliable Internet [connections]. So there are all of the prerequisites," the expert said.

Over four days a number of events will be held in Sevastopol and Simferopol, such as a meeting of the IT-leaders club, seminars on the problems of startups on the basis of the leading universities of the peninsula and a final seminar on the creation of IT-Cluster of Crimea.

The main aim of IT week is to concentrate attention on the IT sector as a leading branch of the economy, exchange experience and knowledge, make new contacts for cooperation between IT companies, as well as improve the prestige of the profession.
