Ukrainian president begins his visit to Serbia

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has begun his official visit to Serbia at the invitation of Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic, the presidential press service has reported.

The official ceremony of a meeting between Yanukovych and Nikolic took place at the Serbian presidential palace.

A military band performed the national anthems of Ukraine and Serbia, and the heads of state inspected the guard of honor.

The ceremony ended with the introduction of official delegations of Ukraine and Serbia.

Yanukovych is on an official visit to Serbia on June 6-7 at the invitation of Nikolic.

The program of the visit foresees talks with Nikolic, President of the National Assembly of Serbia Nebojsa Stefanovic, and Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic.

During the visit, it is planned to discuss a wide range of issues of Ukrainian-Serbian relations and outline ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, first and foremost, in the trade, economic and investment spheres.

In Belgrade, Yanukovych will participate in the work of a Ukrainian-Serbian business forum.

As part of the official visit, it is planned to sign bilateral agreements regarding cooperation between Ukraine and Serbia in the sphere of railway transport, agriculture, tourism, education, culture, and investment.
