Tymoshenko calls on Ukrainians to vote for opposition, not 'swallow' material sops

Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has addressed voters and called on them to vote for the united opposition at the upcoming parliamentary elections in Ukraine due on October 28.

"I will venture to give you only five tips, and you may listen to them or not. All in all, it's your life and your right to undergo a political experiment," the ex-premier's daughter Yevhenia Tymoshenko said, reading aloud her mother's letter at a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday.

"Don't give a vote to the Regions Party – this is my first advice for you. Use your right to vote and try to remove oligarchs from power right now," reads Tymoshenko's letter.

The ex-premier's next advice to the voters is to prevent the elections being won by candidates in majority constituencies from the ruling party.

"If you want to survive, you will have to refrain from swallowing material sops. If you want to survive, you will have to vote against a candidate who is building playgrounds for children, repairing schools and hospitals, halls and elevators in your houses, laying asphalt, and distributing free food and medicines," reads the statement.

"My advice to you is to vote for a parliamentary candidate from the Batkivschyna United Opposition in your constituency, even if you don't really like him or her, even if he or she did not present you with something," Tymoshenko said.

The ex-premier's third advice is not to trust to a technology aimed at convincing voters that the authorities and the opposition are the same.

"Yes, the opposition is not perfect, it has some drawbacks, but it significantly differs from the ruling mafia in all aspects, without exception," she said.

Tymoshenko also called on honest journalists, public activists and organizations, and worthy citizens of the country "not to help the regime to spread lies that the criminals led by the dictator are the same as the real opposition."

The ex-premier also called on Ukrainians not to vote for fake opposition parties.

"For the second elections in a row the oligarchs successfully created a fake opposition, which carries out its tasks at the elections by collecting the votes of trustful citizens, and returns with your voters to its team after the elections," Tymoshenko said.

The ex-premier said that Serhiy Tigipko was a typical example of fake opposition at the presidential election.

Tymoshenko also asked the voters to help the opposition to take away power from mafia.

"You should go to your relatives, friends, and neighbors, who were bought by the sops, who took money for the falsification of results at polling stations, who were deceived by the Regions Party's information technologies, who are confused by the political events and are going to vote for the Regions Party and the fake opposition formed by it," reads the letter.

Tymoshenko also called on all Ukrainians to vote on Election Day.
