Ukrainian authorities want democratic elections to prove legitimacy, Miroshnychenko says

The representative of Ukrainian President at Verkhovna Rada Yuriy Miroshnychenko has said that the authorities cannot be a legitimate if there are some doubts concerning the fairness of its election.

"The Ukrainian president draws a lot of attention to the fairness, transparency and democracy of the elections. The power can't be legitimate if there are any doubts concerning the fairness of the election," he said during the TV linkup with Ivano-Frankivsk regional election headquarters of the Regions Party in Kyiv on Tuesday.

According to him, now the main challenge for the Regions Party as a leading party is to conduct fair elections.

Miroshnychenko said that "it is necessary to do everything to achieve a fair victory, and gain the opportunity to legally form and legalize the plans that we [the representatives of authorities] have already declared in all our program documents."

He also said that even its opponents have no doubts that the Regions Party, according all the polls, is leading in the election campaign and will receive a majority under party lists, as well as in majority constituencies.
