UDAR Party collects over 3,000 statements on corruption in Ukraine

Vitali Klitschko's UDAR Party has collected over 3,000 statements on corruption, some of which have already been submitted to the law enforcement agencies.
A parliamentary candidate from the party, former Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Valentyn Nalyvaichenko, said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday that the party had conducted the first stage of the Lustration of Government program.
"We're currently reporting on more than 3,000 statements to us about cases of corruption. People say in these statements that the biggest threat is corruption," he said, adding that most people talk about corruption in the courts, local government, law enforcement agencies, and educational institutions.
"Vitali Klitschko has passed four statements to the Prosecutor General's Office. Over 200 applications have been submitted to prosecuting agencies across the country," Nalyvaichenko said.
He said that UDAR expects a proper response from law enforcers to these statements, but no answer had yet been given.
He said that the collection of information from Ukrainians about corruption in the country was "not a one-time event" and added that the party would continue to work in this direction after the elections.
He said that the Lustration of Government program concerned not only corrupt officials, but also fraud in the elections to the Verkhovna Rada.
"We are demanding a reaction from law enforcers. The prosecutor's office has such levers," Nalyvaichenko said.
He also said that UDAR would pass this information to a special anti-corruption agency that will be set up for the holding of lustration in Ukraine, and also create a special commission to investigate corruption and fraud. Nalyvaichenko said that the party had already prepared a respective bill.
