Sandu hopes 2025 to bring just peace

Moldova has assured of support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, and also hopes that 2025 will bring a just peace, Moldovan President Maia Sandu said during a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"I hope that 2025 will bring the peace we all strive for – not only peace for Ukrainians, but for the entire region and the continent, a just and lasting peace supported by strong security guarantees for Ukraine," Sandu said at a press conference in Kyiv, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reports.

The Moldovan President said Russia is escalating hybrid attacks and is trying to destabilize the situation in Moldova, in particular by trying to create an energy crisis, social and economic chaos.

"Russia is trying to create tension on both banks of the Dniester and install a pro-Kremlin government in Chisinau. Their ultimate goal is to consolidate the military presence, the troops illegally stationed in Transnistria, and use Moldova against Ukraine," she said.

The head of Moldova also said her country is "fighting back" and defending democracy. She also strongly condemned Russian attacks on Ukrainian social infrastructure.
