Zelenskyy on peace with Russia: It is critical there are serious security guarantees for Ukraine, for all of Europe
Before any peace talks with Russia, it is important for Ukraine to have security guarantees to avoid a repeat of Russian aggression, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes.
"It is critical for us that peace comes. We want peace more than anyone else. And this is understandable, because we are losing more than anyone else, especially people. But before agreeing on anything, it is very important that these be serious security guarantees for Ukraine and for all of Europe. This is the protection of Ukraine and security guarantees – that Russia will not return again with aggression, as it did after the occupation of Crimea in 2014, and then in 2015," Zelenskyy said in an interview with the Italian television channel RaiNews24, the office of the head of state reported on Friday evening.
In the interview, Zelenskyy also spoke about Italy's role in supporting Ukraine and the importance of EU and the U.S. unity in the fight against Russian aggression.
"Today, we need America, of course, it has a strong position in terms of weapons and the economy, it is a nuclear power, and so on. And it is important that it puts pressure on Russia and gives Ukraine, together with Europe, such security guarantees so that Putin or anyone after him never comes with a war against Ukraine," the head of the Ukrainian state said.
