On Wednesday night, January 8, the Ukrainian defense forces attacked the Crystal Oil & petroleum products storage in Engels, Saratov region of the Russian Federation, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

"Numerous explosions were recorded in the target area, and a large-scale fire broke out. The local authorities confirm that they have entered an ‘industrial facility,’" the Telegram channel says.

It is noted that the damaged oil depot supplied fuel to the Engels-2 military airfield, where the enemy's strategic aviation is based.

More detailed information about the results of combat work is being clarified.

The task was carried out by units of the Main Intelligence Agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Forces of Unmanned Systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces.

"The defeat of the oil depot creates serious logistical problems for the strategic aviation of the Russian occupiers and significantly reduces their ability to strike at peaceful Ukrainian cities and civilian facilities," the General Staff stressed.
