National Guard Commander: In 3 years, there won't be single platoon that hasn't returned from training abroad

Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine Oleksandr Pivnenko notes the isolated cases of National Guard fighters who had been trained abroad but did not return to Ukraine.

"There were isolated cases. But for the entire time (almost 3 years) there are not even a platoon of them, roughly speaking, from these thousands that left," Pivnenko said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine, answering the question of whether there were any of the several thousand National Guardsmen who were trained abroad who did not return to Ukraine.

According to the National Guard commander, such stories have been and will be. "Again – human psychology. Most – mobilized, so it takes time to adapt. When a person goes to an already formed unit, sees that there is a commander, instructors, goes to a position, provided with everything necessary, knows that in a critical case there will be an evacuation, – then they fight. And when he came to the unit – no one knows anyone – and already went on a combat mission, well, it's not a matter at all," Pivnenko said.

"It is always better to fight in trained units, so it makes sense to focus on the development of units that have good combat experience, strong commanders," he concluded.
