Blinken announces imminent transfer of $50 bln in frozen Russian assets to Ukraine
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced the imminent transfer of $50 billion to Ukraine using frozen Russian assets from the EU and the USA, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reports.
Blinken said at a press conference in Brussels on Wednesday that they have now managed, using frozen Russian assets, to allocate $50 billion to Ukraine, which will be transferred in the coming weeks from both the USA and Europe, and which will provide Ukraine with financial support for some time next year.
He stressed that the allies continue to work to ensure that Ukraine has the money and resources it needs to maintain its economy and defense.
It concerns ammunition, everything that goes with it, whether it’s air defense, whether it’s missiles, whether it’s armored vehicles. According to the U.S. Secretary of State, the allies are working very determinedly to make sure that Ukraine has what it needs for many months to come. The United States is doing everything we can, Blinken said.
A meeting of foreign ministers of the Alliance member states was held at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, on December 3-4.
