MFA: Kyiv denies reports of being informed about conversation between Trump and Putin – media
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine denies reports about being told about a telephone conversation between U.S. President-elect Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi told.
"Reports that the Ukrainian side was informed in advance of the alleged call are false. Subsequently, Ukraine could not have endorsed or opposed the call," Tykhyi said in a comment to the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
The Washington Post, citing people familiar with the situation, reported that Trump and Putin spoke by phone on Thursday and discussed the war in Ukraine. It says that Kyiv was informed about the call and did not object to the conversation.
As reported, Donald Trump told Vladimir Putin in a telephone conversation not to aggravate the situation in Ukraine, The Washington Post reports. The article noted that Kyiv had been informed about the call and did not object to the conversation.
At the same time, a statement by Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov was circulated in the Russian media, who claims that the information about the telephone conversation between Putin and Trump does not correspond to reality.
"There was no conversation," Peskov told reporters on Monday, answering a relevant question.
