Zelenskyy believes BRICS summit fails
The BRICS summit, which took place in Kazan on October 22-24, failed because many leaders that Russia was counting on did not attend, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"First of all, I believe that the BRICS summit failed. Not everyone was part of BRICS. From today's BRICS, we did not see many leaders that Russia was counting on... That is, this suggests that there is no union in BRICS," Zelenskyy said in an interview for The Times of India, published on Monday.
According to the president, Vladimir Putin is splitting BRICS with his war policy, and also really wants to polarize the world and divide it into "the West and BRICS plus." However, Putin has not succeeded in this for various reasons.
"I think that first of all, because everyone understands that he is a murderer, everyone understands that he is a terrorist, they understand that today there is cheap energy and some states are taking advantage of it. But even those states that understand that they can straighten out their economies do not want to get dirty with Putin," the head of state noted.
In addition, he added that Putin does not want to support the Brazilian-Chinese proposals from the point of view of territorial integrity.
"And for China, this is a slap in the face, and for Brazil, this is a slap in the face, and that is why Brazil was not present at the level of the leader at BRICS," Zelenskyy emphasized.
Speaking about the presence of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres at the summit, the president added that in general this is "surreal, this concerns not only the UN, this concerns many other countries."
Zelenskyy stressed that today it is impossible to be neutral in the war between Russia and Ukraine, since "neutrality greatly helps only the Russian Federation."
"This, I believe, you know, is such hidden support for Russia. And I believe that those who were there and spoke about their neutrality, and said that they want to help resolve this conflict, in my opinion, look more pro-Russian. Because Russia started this war and continues it," Zelenskyy noted.
