Zelenskyy calls NSDC meeting on situation with MSEC, instructs Shmyhal to solve problem at level of central agencies
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council on the situation with medical and social expert commissions (MSEC) and the abuse of power by public officials when receiving disability certificates.
"We heard reports by SBU Chief Vasyl Maliuk and Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko on the inspections and investigation into crimes. A lot of violations and obviously fake disability certificates obtained by officials were revealed," the head of state said on the Telegram channel on Tuesday.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Health Minister Viktor Liashko, and Social Policy Minister Oksana Zholnovych also informed the NSDC about the steps that have been taken at the level of government, Zelenskyy said.
The participants of the meeting separately addressed the situation in the prosecution system of Ukraine on which Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin delivered a report.
"The NSDC formed the list of decisions to restore justice. I approved them by a decree," Zelenskyy said.
The list includes digitalization of all stages of the MSEC, verification of MSEC members' declarations, as well as verification and revision of groundless decisions on disability of officials, and audit of relevant payments.
It also includes amendments to the legislation for immediate reform of the MSEC system in Ukraine, as well as revision of the system and mechanism of benefit payments to public officials.
"I think liability for the situation now must be individual. I instructed the Prime Minister of Ukraine to resolve the problem at the level of central executive agencies, particularly relevant ministries. We need personnel solutions," Zelenskyy said.
He also noted that "there should be also political responsibility of the Prosecutor General for the situation in the prosecution agencies of Ukraine."
