Zelenskyy, Japanese PM discuss energy situation

As part of his working visit to the United States, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

"Restoring our energy sector after Russian shelling and preparing for winter are the tasks we are currently actively working on. Together with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, we discussed the energy situation. Grateful for the new energy aid package that Japan is preparing," Zelenskyy wrote on his Telegram channel on Tuesday night.

The President thanked the Japanese government for supporting Ukraine from the very beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.

In turn, Kishida assured that Japan will continue to provide Ukraine with all the necessary support.

According to the press service of the head of state, during the meeting, Zelenskyy awarded the Prime Minister of Japan with the Order of Yaroslav the Wise, 1st degree.

During the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation with partners in the G7 and the EU to create a practical mechanism that will allow them to receive $50 billion from frozen Russian assets. In addition, the president stressed that it is important to continue working to block all loopholes that the Russian Federation uses to circumvent sanctions.

Zelenskyy informed his interlocutor about the current situation in the energy sector. In turn, Kishida said that Japan is preparing a new energy aid package, which will include transformers, generators and other equipment.
