There is no threat to the dam of the Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP), which is situated in Vyshgorod, Kyiv region, after a Russian attack on Monday morning, Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council Andriy Kovalenko has said.

"Regarding the dam of the Kyiv HPP, there are no threats. It is impossible to destroy it with missiles. It should not be compared with Kherson region [the dam of the Kakhovka HPP in Nova Kakhovka], where there was an explosion from inside. The Russians are informationally using this topic to stir up panic, no more," he said on the Telegram channel on Monday.

As reported, the publication Bukvy, citing its own sources, reported that the Kyiv HPP was one of the energy facilities attacked by the Russian occupation forces on the morning of August 26, but the scale of its destruction remains unknown.

"There is no talk of a dam break. It is currently unknown whether there were victims or fatalities at this facility," the publication said, supplementing the material with a video showing a fire and destruction allegedly at the Kyiv HPP.

A similar video is actively disseminated by Telegram channels, in particular Joker and Lachen Writes.

The HPP operator, PJSC Ukrhydroenergo, has not yet commented on the information.
