Zelenskyy inspects construction of fortifications in Volyn
During a working trip to Volyn region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy inspected the construction of fortifications and held a meeting on the security of the northern regions of the country.
"Volyn. The construction of fortifications and a security meeting regarding our northern regions. The main focus is on the protection of our state border in the regions bordering Russia and Belarus. We continue to strengthen the Ukrainian border. Thanks to everyone who works for the protection and strength of Ukraine," Zelenskyy wrote on his Telegram channel on Tuesday.
According to the press service of the President, the meeting was attended by representatives of the military leadership, the State Border Guard Service, the heads of Volyn, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Kyiv and Chernihiv regional state administrations.
Head of the State Border Guard Service, Serhiy Deineko, reported on the protection of the border, in particular, on the number of soldiers involved, their abilities and weapons. In turn, the heads of regional administrations and the head of the administration of the State Special Transport Service, Oleksandr Yakovets, informed about the progress of the construction of fortifications along the border with Belarus.
Zelenskyy also inspected the construction of trenches, firing structures and positions, dugouts at one of the strongholds in Volyn region.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, anti-tank ditches, protective fences, as well as platoon strongholds with firing positions have been built in the region. In addition, reinforced concrete structures and protective structures have been installed to shelter military personnel in the directions of probable movement of the aggressor's armored vehicles.
"On our side, there is strong protection both in personnel and in the lines of defense. The number of border guards has also been increased in all regions that have borders with Russia and Belarus. And we continue to strengthen this," Zelenskyy said.
