Defense Procurement Agency signs more than 20 direct contracts with global arms manufacturers
The Defense Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in 2024 concluded more than 20 direct contracts with the world's leading arms manufacturers.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense, the purchases include both ammunition and modern weapons and military equipment for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Today, 70% of the amount of concluded agreements for the purchase of weapons comes from Ukrainian manufacturers. However, it is also important for us to diversify supply routes and provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with the necessary weapons, which currently cannot be purchased in Ukraine. Now the Ministry of Defense is actively working in foreign markets, and the key focus here is direct contracting with manufacturers,” said Deputy Defense Minister Dmytro Klimenkov.
Currently, the Defense Procurement Agency has direct contracts for the supply of weapons from ten countries around the world.
“It is critically important for us to have a reputation as a reliable and transparent armed buyer in the world. Compared to last year, the share of direct contracts with manufacturers in foreign economic contracts of the Defense Procurement Agency has tripled - from 20% to 60%. Of course, in some countries it is impossible to cope without intermediaries, but these statistics demonstrate that we are on the right track,” summed up Maryna Bezrukova, director of the Defense Procurement Agency.
