No enemy saboteurs enter Sumy region recently – Border Guard Service
No state border breaches were recorded in Sumy region recently, Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Colonel Andriy Demchenko told Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday, however, adding that Russian saboteurs stay active.
"I can say that no breaches of the state border by Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups in Sumy region with combat clashes were observed recently in the areas of responsibility of the border guard detachments. At the same time, we should understand that a certain activity of enemy saboteurs still exists, but it is much lower than we saw some time ago," he said.
Demchenko also noted that the enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups might be tasked with identifying the location of Ukrainian defenders or carrying out sabotage actions aimed at defeating the Ukrainian defense forces, targeting their weapons at the Ukrainian defense positions.
"Our fighters are very well aware of this threat, and they do their best to prevent saboteurs' attempts, reveal them on time, and, of course, beat them out of the territory of Ukraine," he said.
Earlier, several Telegram channels reported a failed attempt by the Russian forces to enter Sumy region. The occupiers allegedly tried to break through in the vicinity of Chuikivka, Rozhkovychi, Sytne and, after numerous artillery and mortar shelling attacks, enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups entered the region.
