Ukraine's State Aviation Service suspends YanAir operator certificate

After an inspection of YanAir Airlines the State Aviation Service of Ukraine has decided to suspend the operator certificate of YanAir airline from 00:00 UTC (03:00 Kyiv time) on June 7.

According to the press service of the State Aviation Service on the Facebook page on Thursday evening, the permanent commission for the certification of operators of the State Aviation Service made this decision due to the fact that "it revealed a number of remarks (some of which are critical) in the organization of the airline's activities, which can affect flight safety."

At the same time, the State Aviation Service said that according to the procedure, the operator certificate can be restored after the airline eliminates the drawbacks and on the basis of the inspection report, which will indicate the ability of the air carrier to provide an adequate level of safety.

The authority recalled that in April 2019, a meeting chaired by Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan for the preparation of airlines servicing charter flights for the summer season and the prevention of massive flight delays caused by the technical condition of the aircraft fleet was held.

Omelyan commented on this decision of the State Aviation Service. "This is a difficult, but correct decision. Passenger safety is above all. We warned them. Inspections are underway," he wrote on his Facebook page.

In turn, YanAir said that they expect that the operator certificate will be renewed in the near future.
