Ukraine's government has approved an intergovernmental agreement on military technical cooperation (MTC) with Qatar.

The draft of a respective cabinet decision was approved at a government meeting on Wednesday without discussion.

The intergovernmental agreement on MTC between Ukraine and Qatar was signed by the parties in Doha (Qatar) in March 2018.

According to Interfax-Ukraine's sources in the defense sector, the document notes that the main areas of bilateral military technical cooperation with Qatar are the development, production, modernization, repair and purchase of weapons and military equipment of ground forces, air defense technology, radio-electronic and radio equipment, combat ships and other marine equipment, spare parts, missiles and military equipment.

The document also stipulates the transfer of technology for the joint production of military equipment and the provision of technical assistance for its organization.

In the new geopolitical situation, Qatar, along with Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Kuwait, is considered one of Ukraine's most promising partners in the field of military technical cooperation in the Middle East region.
