U.S. and Czech companies to establish technical cooperation in aircraft modernization and production at Odesa aircraft plant

U.S.-based Aviastar Invest Corp. and the Czech-based DISTAR CZ a.s. intend to establish technical cooperation in the field of modernization and production of aircraft at the facilities of Odesa Aircraft Plant that is part of Ukroboronprom state concern, the press service of the state concern has said.

According to the report, Odesa Aircraft Plant, Aviastar Invest Corp, and DISTAR CZ a.s. have achieved an agreement on cooperation in the development and production of aircraft in Ukraine, as well as the establishment of an international regional service center for repairs and overhauls of aircraft and helicopters and training pilots.

The details of the agreements, including their legal status, as well as the plans of the industrial cooperation are not specified.

According to open sources, Aviastar Invest Corp. Inc., established in 2015, specializes in financial consulting, as well as exports and imports of light aircraft and agricultural products.

Odesa Aircraft Plant is one of the oldest aviation enterprises in Ukraine. It provides repairs and modernization of L-39 aircraft, repairs of MiG-21 fighters, their spares and engines within the framework of the state defense order and in the interests of foreign customers. The aircraft factory also modernizes these aircraft, allowing them to bring their technical and tactical characteristics closer to MiG-29, Su-27, Mirage-2000, and F-16 aircraft.
