Wage arrears in Ukraine 6.3% up in June

The total amount of wage arrears in Ukraine in June 2018 increased by 6.3%, and as of July 1, 2018 amounted to UAH 2.723 billion, the State Statistics Service has said.

According to its data, in June 2018 wage arrears at economically active enterprises increased by 11% and on July 1 this year amounted to UAH 1.566 billion.

Wage arrears in June 2018 increased in Volyn (50.2%), Zakarpattia (21.1%), Donetsk (18.3%), Zaporizhia (16.3%), Sumy (14.3%), Ternopil (10.8%), Lviv (8.4%), Chernivtsi (7.6%), Kherson (7.1%) regions and Kyiv city (4.1%).

At the same time, the decline of wage arrears was recorded in Vinnystia (20.7%), Rivne (8.5%), Mykolaiv (5%), Ivano-Frankivsk (4.5%), and Kirovohrad (2.3%) regions.

According to the statistics service, in June 2018 arrears in payment of wages increased in the sphere of wholesale and retail trade, repair of vehicles and motor cycles by 9.1%, to UAH 20.149 million, in industry by 7.4%, to UAH 2.186 billion, in the sphere of administrative and support services by 8.8%, to UAH9.418 million, healthcare and social assistance by 8.8%, to UAH 26.044 million, transport, warehouses, postal and courier activities by 5.3%, to UAH 170.252 million and provision of other services by 13.7%, to UAH 778,000.

The wage arrears fell by 11.9% in arts, sports, entertainment and recreation, to UAH 1.211 million, education by 5.1%, to UAH 4.335 million, the professional, scientific and technical activity by 0.9%, to UAH 112.338 million, accommodations and catering by 12.8%, to UAH 2.351 million, IT and telecom by 5.7%, to UAH 9.825 million, agriculture, forestry and fish catch by 0.2%, to UAH 17.347 million.
