Omelyan advises UIA management, owners to focus on repaying UAH 400 mln debt to state

Ukraine's Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelyan has stated Ukraine International Airlines (UIA, Kyiv) has a debt to the national budget in the amount of UAH 400 million and advises the company management to focus on this issue, the press service of the ministry has reported.

"I would sincerely advise the UIA owners and management to focus on the issue of paying UAH 400 million to the national budget, the development of Dnipro airport, Dniproavia and many other issues," Omelyan said.

He stated the UIA's lawsuits against the agreement between Lviv airport and Ryanair low cost carrier and a number of other issues are direct interference in the arrangements of another airline with the airports, they are unreasonable and groundless.

According to the minister, the issues of establishing discriminatory conditions and violations of competition rules are within the competence of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine but not the court, whereas "now there are only mandatory recommendations to Boryspil airport from the AMC, which state that only the UIA had discounts there for several years and this issue is being investigated."
