Yuzhny port cuts cargo handling by 19% in 2016

Yuzhny seaport (Odesa region), the largest seaport of Ukraine in terms of transshipment, in 2016 reduced cargo handling by 19.1% compared with 2015, to 39.91 million tonnes.

According to live data from the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, in the past year the port decreased transshipment of exported cargo by 22.4%, to 29.671 million tonnes, imported freight by 2.4%, to 4.811 million tonnes, transit cargo by 32.2%, to 3.535 million tonnes, increased cabotage goods handling by 7 times, to 1.273 million tonnes.

According to the types of cargo, the port during this period reduced transshipment of liquid cargo by 16%, to 3.788 million tonnes, dry bulk goods by 20.8%, to 34.383 million tonnes, increased the handling of packaged goods by 67.2%, to 1.12 million tonnes.

Yuzhny port was founded in 1978. It is located on the Adzhalyk firth and is the deepest harbor in Ukraine. The length of its berths is around 2.6 kilometers. The port has six handling terminals.
