Naftogaz backs proposal to hold trilateral gas meeting in Brussels

National joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy welcomes efforts of European Commission Vice President Maros Sefcovic to communicate the position of the Ukrainian company to Russian colleagues. The company backs the proposal to organize a trilateral meeting in Brussels.

"We back the proposal of Mr. Sefcovic to hold a trilateral meeting in Brussels at a time convenient to all sides," the press service of Naftogaz told Interfax-Ukraine commenting on announcing the possibility of holding this meeting in Moscow after the talks between Sefcovic and Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak on November 25.

"We are committed to two criteria in importing gas for the Ukrainian market: the price and reliability. Non-flexibility of Russian colleagues in these criteria resulted in their proposal being uncompetitive during one year. If Gazprom wants to return to the circle of our suppliers, we are ready to discuss the acceptable conditions," Naftogaz said.

The Ukrainian company said that it is the largest company that is involved in Russian gas transit to European consumers.

"We are providing for as best as possible quality of this work, despite many cases of violation of the contract by Gazprom. Ukraine is aiming at the full integration with the EU gas market, and stable transit is our top priority," the press service said.
