ІРМА members show medicine production process at Indian plants to Ukrainian MPs

Companies that are members of the of Indian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers' Association in Ukraine (IPMA) have presented the conditions of production of medicines at their plants in India to Ukrainian MPs – representatives of the Ukraine-India parliamentary committees for healthcare, preventing and combating corruption and the budget committee.

During the visit the Ukrainian parliamentary delegation visited in Gurgaon one of the research and development centers of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., production facilities of Dr.Reddy's, Optimus Generics Ltd., which is part of Organosyn Lifesciences Pvt. Ltd. and produces officinal medicines for Organosyn Ltd. that operates in Ukraine, the production facilities of Aurobindom one of the largest companies that have a full pharmaceutical production cycle from active pharmaceutical ingredients to officinal medicines, and a plant of Lupin pharmaceutical company located in Goa, one of 15 plants of the corporation.

Mbiotech, Abryl, Eurolifecare, Alembic pharmaceutical companies and Cipla, which is represented by Progress Pharma in Ukraine, showed their readiness to present their production facilities to Ukrainian lawmakers.

Members of the parliamentary delegation agreed that Indian companies will provide humanitarian aid that among other things, will be sent to satisfy the needs of Ukrainian military servicemen located in some regions of Ukraine. The total cost of medicines provided will be over UAH 1.5 million.

Head of the Ukrainian delegation and co-chair of the Ukraine-India parliamentary group Andriy Hordeyev said that Indian medicines, the quality and efficiency of which is confirmed by international certificates, must have a good niche on the Ukrainian pharmaceutical market.

A member of the parliamentary committee for healthcare Kostiantyn Yarynych said that Indian companies showed the clear quality control system.

"Maybe, cooperation with the ІРМА association that unites largest Indian pharmaceutical manufacturers that are present in Ukraine and supply medicines all over the world would be useful in this process. Maybe, membership in IPMA could become a certain guarantee of quality and efficiency of medicines that enter the Ukrainian market and the Ukrainian market must be opened for these products," Yarynych said.

He expressed a desire that Ukrainian pharmaceutical plants showed the conditions of production at their plants.

"We’d like to visit plants of Ukrainian pharmaceutical manufacturers to learn where they buy active pharmaceutical ingredients and in what conditions they make their products," he said.

Chair of the parliamentary subcommittee for the budget policy and improving the provision of the Budget Code of the budget committee Kostiantyn Ischeikin said that the provision the healthcare sector with high-quality medicines is a strategic task for Ukraine.

"Partnership with manufacturers that are highly assessed by global society and that are not indifferent to the work they do inspires to the further fruitful and long-term cooperation," he said.

IPMA President Dr. Ramanan Menon said that Indian pharmaceutical companies are ready to develop in Ukraine, invest in production and creation of jobs.

"Showing our production facilities we wanted to convey a message to Ukrainian parliamentarians that we will welcome the introduction of European standards in their country and the introduction of equal rules for all market players. In this case we will be ready for investment," he said.
