Ukraine imports natural gas from Europe at $268.8 in Aug - statistics

Ukraine imported natural gas from Europe in August at an average price of $268.80 per 1,000 cubic meters, which is 0.2% less than in July 2015 ($269.30), the State Statistics Service has reported.

Europe supplied 1.031 billion cubic meters (bcm) worth $277.297 million in August.

Ukraine received 417.846 million cubic meters (mcm) worth $110.167 million ($263.70 per 1,000 cubic meters) from suppliers in Germany, 278.866 mcm worth $73.347 million ($263) from Hungary, 234.21 mcm worth $67.277 million ($287.20) from Norway and 100.54 million cubic meters worth $26.507 million ($263.60) from Switzerland.

In all, Ukraine imported 7.935 bcm of gas worth $2.245 billion from Europe in January-August 2015.

The State Statistics Service started providing data on the volume and value of natural gas imports from Russia, which had not been updated since February 2015.

In January-August 2015, 3.751 bcm of gas worth $1.134 billion was supplied from Russia. Gas was supplied in January-June. In July-September Ukraine did not buy Russian gas due to the high price.

Totally, in January-August 2015, Ukraine imported 11.686 bcm of gas worth $3.379 billion from Europe and Russia.

As reported, Ukraine imported 19.466 bcm of gas worth $5.695 billion from all suppliers in 2014, including 5.016 bcm worth $1.755 billion from suppliers in Europe and 14.450 bcm worth $3.94 billion from Russia.
