Belavia ready to increase transit flights via Minsk over halt of flights between Ukraine, Russia

OJSC Belavia (Belarus) is ready for an increase in transit flights between Ukraine and Russia due to the reciprocal sanctions which came into effect on October 25 and the airline is ready for them, the public relations department of the airline told Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.

"We believe that the number of transit flights will grow. Our company is ready to this, including for the possible replacement of planes with planes with a larger capacity," a representative of Belavia told Interfax-Ukraine.

The airline could not give an exact figure on how many transit flights could be added.

Belavia said that airline currently runs daily flights on the Minsk-Kyiv-Minsk route and recently launched regular flights to Odesa.

The representative of Belavia also said that the company has been requested to fly to other Ukrainian cities, in particular, negotiations on the possible opening of flights to Kharkiv are being held.

Flight between Ukraine and Russia were suspended on October 25.
