MTS Ukraine has no plans to cease work in ATO area
PJSC MTS Ukraine has no plans to cease operations in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) area in eastern Ukraine, the operator’s press service has told Interfax-Ukraine.
"MTS Ukraine has no plans to stop work in the east. The company continues to work in Donbas and currently supports the operation of about 80% of all communications objects in Donetsk and Luhansk regions," the company said.
Possible disruptions to the network could be linked to a lack of electricity in certain localities or damage to equipment.
As reported, other members of the telecommunications market, namely Astelit and Ukrtelecom, also reported they had no plans to suspend operations in the occupied territories. At the same time, Ukraine's largest mobile operator Kyivstar on February 4 disconnected a segment of its mobile communications network in parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions which are not under the control of the Ukrainian authorities.
