In 24 Ukrainian transplant centers, some 283 organ transplants were performed in the first half of 2024, the Ukrainian Transplant Coordination Center said on Facebook.

According to the report, in particular, during this period 187 kidney transplants, some 55 liver transplants and 41 heart transplants were performed. Moreover, 67% of transplantations were performed using organs from post-humous donors.

Most of the transplants were carried out by doctors from the First Medical Association of Lviv, the National Center for Surgery and transplantation named after. Shalimov and the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health.

The largest number of declarations of brain death were carried out in medical institutions in Kyiv (20), Lviv (11) and Vinnytsia (5).

According to the Ukrainian Transplant Coordination Center, there are currently 3,212 patients on the national waiting list, some 2,077 of them need a kidney transplant, some 523 a liver transplant, some 507 a heart transplant, and 41 a lung transplant.
