Armored vehicles coalition for Ukraine starts work in Warsaw
The opening of the Coalition of Armored Vehicles in Support of Ukraine took place in Warsaw on Tuesday, March 26, according to the website of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
"During the first meeting, representatives of the participating countries developed a consolidated position on strengthening the technical fleet of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with certain types of armored vehicles and organizing a system for their repair," the statement says.
The initiative was proposed by Poland and Germany and received support from the UK, Sweden and Italy.
"The coalition of armored vehicles aims to strengthen the armored shield of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, through joint efforts to increase the capabilities of our troops in the fight against the Russian aggressor, to ensure the effective operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and weapons provided to us by our allies," Deputy Defense Minister Ivan Havryliuk, who heads the Ukrainian delegation, said.
Within the Coalition of Armored Vehicles, four syndicates have been created, each of which will include a representative of Ukraine. Each syndicate is assigned specific tasks: supplying weapons and ammunition for Western armored vehicles; their maintenance and repair; training of crews and technical personnel; developing effective tactics for using armored vehicles on the battlefield.
"This is a very important initiative of our allies, given the existing problems in the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the repair of foreign armored vehicles. I hope that with the help of our allies we will be able to quickly, as quickly as possible, create an effective repair base for Western armored vehicles in Ukraine," the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine said.
According to Havryliuk, within the new Coalition, an appropriate road map will be developed that will correspond to the development strategy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It is expected that in the long term, the participating countries of the tank coalition and the coalition of armored vehicles will help create the future armored fleet of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and establish an innovative industrial partnership with Ukraine.
