Denmark transfers Caesar artillery installations, mortars and ammunition to Ukraine –Defense Ministry

Denmark has agreed on a major new package of military assistance to Ukraine, which includes Caesar artillery installations, self-propelled 120 mm mortars and ammunition for them.

As reported on the website of the Danish Ministry of Defense on Monday, with reference to the Foreign Policy Council, the package is the 16th in a row and has a value of about DKK 2.3 billion ($336 million), which is funded through the Ukraine Facility. Denmark is financing the supply of Caesar artillery pieces together with France and 155 mm artillery shells together with Estonia and the Czech Republic.

"With the 16th donation package, we emphasize that we are with Ukraine for a long time. Their struggle for freedom is also the struggle of Europe, and we cannot afford to let Ukrainians down now. We must continue our support, which is absolutely crucial for the outcome of the war," said Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.

"A huge political and economic will is required if Europe wants to realize its ambitions to support Ukraine. This is especially true for artillery ammunition. With this donation package, we show Ukraine and our European allies that Denmark has the desire and ability to continue our support for Ukraine for as long as it tabkes. I hope that more countries will follow this example and contribute to the realization of these opportunities as soon as possible," said Foreign Minister Lars Lecke Rasmussen.

It is planned to use DKK 2.3 billion of the funds of the Ukraine Facility in 2024-2026, of which about DKK 1.3 billion in 2024, about DKK 0.2 billion in 2025 and about DKK 0.7 billion in 2026.
