Zelenskyy, Rutte take part in meeting of visiting military cabinet in Kharkiv, visit metro school

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte took part in a meeting of the visiting military cabinet in Kharkiv and visited the metro school, the presidential press service said.

In particular, Zelenskyy and Rutte held meetings with Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky and Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykola Oleschuk. Representatives of the Ukrainian army spoke about the current situation on the battlefield and the peculiarities of Russian air attacks.

They also briefed the leaders on the critical needs of the Defense Forces in ammunition, air defense and armored vehicles. We separately discussed the needs of air defense forces to protect Kharkiv.

In turn, in Kharkiv, the President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of the Netherlands inspected buildings damaged as a result of Russian shelling.

It is noted that since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion in Kharkiv, more than 20,000 objects have been destroyed, including 50% of the city's schools.

In addition, Zelenskyy and Rutte paid tribute to the children who died due to Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine. The leaders installed lamps and placed toys at the monument to young victims of Russian aggression near Kharkiv Regional Palace of Children and Youth Creativity. Since the beginning of the war, some 87 children have died in Kharkiv region, and some 21 little Ukrainians have died in Kharkiv.

Later, as Zelenskyy's press service said, the President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of the Netherlands visited the metro school in Kharkiv and attended lessons held in specially equipped classrooms at the University metro station.

The leaders visited mathematics, Ukrainian and English lessons and talked with children. They inquired about the students' favorite subjects, hobbies and dreams and wished them success.

It is noted that 858 children from 40 classes study at the University station. Some 106 classes have been formed in which 2,191 children receive knowledge.

During the operation of the metro school, it was visited by journalists from 22 countries, as well as representatives of international organizations: the UN, UNICEF, USAID.
