U.S. Congress to make decision on aid to Ukraine – Zhovkva

The decision on assistance to Ukraine will be made by Congress, Deputy Head of the President's Office of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva is sure.

"If you ask me, I am personally confident that this decision will be made. Of course, I would like it to be faster," he said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

Speaking about the president's meetings with representatives of U.S. authorities during the Munich Security Conference, Zhovkva noted the meeting with congressmen. "There were Republicans, heads of committees who, for example, recently visited Ukraine. We did not hear from a single representative of the Republican Party that funding for Ukraine would not be accepted, or any arguments against Ukraine. From everyone we heard: 'Yes, nothing personal,' this is not against you, this is an internal issue of the United States, and we are working on it," he said.

"There was a very human conversation. Some said: 'There are a lot of representatives of the Ukrainian community in my state - What do you say, Mr. President, what should we tell our people, the Americans?' The President gave very simple, human arguments: 'You just tell them about the Ukrainian children who not only can be deported from the occupied territories, but wake up every day to the sounds of explosions.' And they said: 'Yes, Mr. President, this argument works very well for the public,'" Zhovkva said.
