Danish govt announces new package of military assistance to Ukraine worth almost $250 mln
The Danish government has announced a new package of military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of DKK 1.7 billion (or almost $250 million), which provides, in particular, for the supply of 15,000 artillery ammunition to Ukraine within a few months, the Danish Ministry of Defense reports.
"The government and the parliamentary parties have agreed on a new, large package of military donations for Ukraine. The cost of the package is about DKK 1.7 billion and provides, including 15,000 pieces of artillery shells in cooperation with the Czech Republic," the Ministry of Defense said on its website on Thursday.
As reported, "the package provides for air defense equipment, mine clearance equipment and drones. This is part of what is to be funded by a new large military donation package of approximately DKK 1.7 billion. This is the 15th package of military equipment for Ukraine."
"Ukraine still has a great need for support, including, not least, artillery ammunition. With the 15th donation package, Denmark makes a financial contribution to the purchase of weapons and ammunition. Both through other countries, including the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, and through continued good and important cooperation with the Danish defense industry," said Troels Lund Poulsen, the country's Defense minister.
As reported, "thanks to the contract with the Czech Ministry of Defense, the Danish Ministry of Defense has financed the purchase of 15,000 units of 155 mm artillery ammunition, which will be delivered to Ukraine within a few months."
Earlier it was reported that Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said that the first Danish batch of F-16 fighter jets will arrive in Ukraine this summer.
