The role of drones in the war is increasing daily due to the increase in their use on both sides, said commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrsky.

“This war significantly increases the importance of technological progress in the Armed Forces and in the very process of the armed struggle. We are already seeing, and this is not news to us, the use of ground-based robotic platforms. The use of modules that are controlled remotely, which makes it possible to save the lives of our servicemen. That is, the war is moving into a new stage,” Syrsky said in an interview with ZDF on the eve of his appointment as commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

He noted that now, in almost all levels of military administration, every commander sees a picture of the battlefield.

“If earlier he could see some limited part from a dugout or observation post, now he sees the whole picture of the fighting, operations, and much more,” added Syrsky.

Answering the question about when the war will end and the prospect of its speedy completion, he replied: “It all depends on the level of support and the effectiveness of our actions.”

“We have enough fortitude. We do not have enough support: as I have already told, ammunition and equipment,” said Syrsky.
