Ukrainian defenders destroy 44 air targets out of 64: 29 missiles, 15 attack UAVs
The Russian occupiers struck the territory of Ukraine using 64 means of air attack, the Ukrainian defenders destroyed 44 air targets, in particular, 26 X-101/X-555/X-55 cruise missiles, three Kalibr cruise missiles and 15 Shahed-type attack UAVs, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny said.
"At the beginning of the day on February 7, 2024, the enemy carried out several strikes on the territory of Ukraine using various means of air attack: attack UAVs, cruise, ballistic and anti-aircraft guided missiles," Zaluzhny wrote in his Telegram channel on Wednesday.
In general, during the massive attack, the enemy used 64 means of air attack, among them 20 attack UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type, which were fired from Chauda in Crimea, 29 X-101/X-555/X-55 cruise missiles from 10 Tu-95MS strategic aviation aircraft, launches took place from Engels and the Caspian Sea.
In addition, the Russians used four X-22 cruise missiles from Tu-22M3 bombers, they were launched from Sevastopol and Kursk; three Kalibr sea–based cruise missiles from carriers in the Black Sea, the launch area is Novorossiysk; three Iskander-M ballistic missiles, which the occupiers fired from Cape Tarkhankut in Crimea and Voronezh region of the Russian Federation, as well as five S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles, launches were from Belgorod region of the Russian Federation.
"As a result of combat work, 44 air targets were destroyed by firepower of the Air Force and the Defense Forces: 26 X-101/X-555/X-55 cruise missiles; three Kalibr cruise missiles; 15 Shahed-136/131 type attack UAVs," wrote Zaluzhny.
To repel the enemy air attack, anti-aircraft missile troops and fighter aircraft of the Air Force, units of mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and electronic warfare equipment were involved.
