German Bundestag doesn't support transfer of Taurus missiles to Ukraine
The Bundestag, at a vote on Wednesday, January 17, did not support the draft resolution on the transfer of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine, Der Spiegel said.
According to the publication, some 178 parliamentarians voted "for," while 485 "against."
The resolution was opposed by the Greens and the Free Democratic Party, which previously approved an increase in military assistance to Ukraine, including cruise missiles. As the publication notes, the initiative of the CDU/CSU party was regarded as an attempt to gain a tactical advantage in the internal political debates in Germany.
In addition, the Greens criticized the parliamentary majority for refusing to approve Ukraine's applications to join the European Union and NATO.
