Ukraine interested in developing partnership with Romania in defense – Umerov
Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov took part in Ukrainian-Romanian intergovernmental consultations led by the prime ministers of the two neighboring countries, which took place in Kyiv, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports.
In his speech, Umerov welcomed the holding of the joint meeting as a strong signal for bilateral cooperation and thanked the Romanian partners for their unwavering support in the fight against Russian aggression.
“We have received significant assistance from Romania in the field of defense. The support from Romanian friends is felt on the battlefield both on the ground and in the sky,” he said.
Umerov expressed conviction that cooperation between Ukraine and Romania around the Black Sea will also strengthen in order to restore security in the region.
During the bilateral meeting, Umerov thanked Romanian Defense Minister Angel Tilvar and his team for the stable operation of the logistics hub and for their efforts to train Ukrainian specialists in Romania.
Umerov and Tilvar also discussed areas of further cooperation and Romania’s experience in NATO integration.
