By the beginning of the heating season, the reconstruction of the largest heating network, which provides heat to Podil, will be completed, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on his Telegram channel on Tuesday.

"Today I checked how reconstruction of the heating network of the largest diameter - 720 mm, which supplies heat to entire Podil, is proceeding. Over the past five years, more than 40 damages have been found in this area," he wrote.

As Klitschko informed, the first stage of the complex re-laying at the facility was launched in 2020 - then the main heating network with a length of more than 1.5 km was upgraded.

The second stage is currently underway. The overhaul of the equipment of the thermal chamber has already been completed, as well as the replacement of worn-out shut-off valves and building structures. The redeployment of the network is carried out from a heat chamber to a heat chamber. Instead of a worn-out heating network, pre-insulated European-style pipes equipped with a damage alarm system are being laid.

"Reconstruction will continue without turning off the hot water supply. Thanks to modernization of heating networks and heating equipment, the quality of heat supply will improve for almost 400 residential buildings, three medical institutions, 51 educational institutions and 423 departments," the mayor of the city said.

As he stressed, preparation for winter is currently the main priority for the city authorities.

In 2023, more than UAH 1 billion was allocated from the city budget to repair heat source equipment damaged as a result of enemy shelling, as well as to purchase mobile boiler houses. Boiler houses, pumping stations, pump-room complexes and other critical infrastructure facilities are also being equipped with alternative power sources.
